In the second week, I used hand-cut-out stencils. I made one portraying the seagull I was inspired by, on the grass and another one not related to the theme of Place just for experimentation. Both were made out of visual diary papers.

This is me inking a board with a roller:

I used half of the surface with green and grey, so it matches the seagull's body and grass colour when printed. The inking process required more strength than I expected, especially with a larger roller like the one shown above. It was interesting to see how the two colours of inks eventually create a smooth gradation as rolling.

My first print was too light, since thin lines of the stencil were faintly printed, such as the legs of the seagull. The print was also too high above the paper than I was expecting it to be.

I took note from this experience to ink my board more thoroughly and strongly, and also to consider the placement of the stencils more carefully before printing, thinking of the image I want to create ultimately.
